Who are SumTotal Systems?
SumTotal Systems LLC are a Skillsoft company and were established in 1985. They are a provider of HR software delivering Talent Expansion™ solutions that help companies to develop, discover and release the hidden potential within their workforce and entire business ecosystem. Their platform allows their customers to record all applications, enabling them to link performance management, compensation and succession planning processes to learning management systems (LMS) and workforce management data. They have over 3,500 customers worldwide and are headquartered out of Florida in the United States. They have global offices in Europe, APAC and the United States and have won numerous awards including HR Technology Excellence Award as Learning Service Provider from the HR Technology Awards 2016.
What was the brief?
SumTotal Systems were searching for a Regional Sales Manager to be based within the UK and work from their offices on the outskirts of London. They needed a proven “hunter” who could open up new logo accounts within specific market verticals. Additionally it was critical that this candidate had prior experience selling HR / HCM SaaS related technology into senior business level HR executives.
What was our process?
Working in partnership with the direct line manager, the specific requirements of the role were discussed along with the unique message Sumtotal had to share with the market. The JPS Selection team got to work identifying a list of potential candidates for the role, and gathered over twenty names from nine specific donor companies. JPS Selection then proactively made contact with the candidates to discuss the opportunity, evangelise Sumtotal’s business and qualify the candidate’s skills against the set criteria of the position. The list was quickly reduced to a more refined shortlist of 3 high calibre, experienced candidates who were presented to SumTotal.
What was the outcome?
Working closely with the hiring managers and after undertaking a thorough interview process, followed by subsequent negotiations; one of the 3 shortlisted candidates secured the role at SumTotal Systems. The whole process was completed in around eight weeks.
